Dress Portraits

Just before we went into the first lockdown in the Spring, I had the pleasure of styling a magical photoshoot for portrait artist Kerstin Walsh at her gorgeous home studio…

“I make Artworks about you and the things you love, using a photograph of your dress as my canvas.”

I love how Kerstin weaves people's backgrounds, interests and personalities into her work to create these unique keepsakes. Her art works tell the most sensitive and delicate stories, with an ethereal, dream-like innocence.

Deeply rooted, yet suspended, each piece transports the viewer into a fairytale, giving us an insight into the sentimentalities of each individual client.

Both her work and Kerstin herself have a gentleness and serenity that make you feel warmly embraced and right at home.

The same can be said about our incredible photographer Kate Bean. Kate is the sweetest soul, she really helps the client to feel calm and relaxed, and always brings so much joy and laughter to the experience. She’s so skilled in capturing light and detail, as well as conveying feeling and emotion in such a touching way.

So fitting and perfect that Kerstin happened to be doing a portrait at the time of a wedding dress I made a few years ago for a photoshoot with Kate… Which then found its forever home with lovely bride Joanne Scobie. It fitted her like a glove, like it was made for her. Oh how lovely it was to meet it again!

Another trip down memory lane… at the end of the photo session, Kerstin brought out the stunning glittering crown she had made at my Christmas crown workshop which took place last year at Pink Moon Cafe.

I so look forward to working on styling creative photoshoots again, when restrictions lift… but for now, I’m enjoying the nostalgia, looking back over all the amazing collaborations we’ve already achieved together. I just love these photos!!

Hope you enjoy them too…

If you feel like getting creative yourself, I’m offering DIY flower crown kits with a demo video, so please get in touch if you’re interested.

Stay well and stay inspired lovelies!
